Aline Frankfort & Jean-Louis Baudoin
We work at the intersection of creative practice, transformational thinking and visual culture.
For more than thirty years, a question has run through our work: how can we open eyes to new kinds of vision? How can we make the invisible mental maps that shape our choices visible, and recover the power and freedom to look at the world differently?
Together, we created Shapership – the Art of Shaping the Future(s): a practice rooted in creativity and re-perception, designed to make different futures visible, desirable and actionable. We are the co-authors of the book published in 2023 in United States: Shapership: The Eye Only Sees What the Brain is Ready To Understand
Our work has taken many forms: maps, books, images, strategic and creative journeys, teaching, public conversations and, today, the Shapership Game, based on our metaphorical Map of MAD Land and NO MAD Land. What connects them all is a lifelong dedication to Shifts in Minds for Shifts in Action.
We invite people to become Activists of the Future(s): aware of their freedom to shift perspective, widen the geography of possibilities and shape the Future in the Present.
Our core expertise: Shifts in Minds for Shifts in Action.
Aline Frankfort is an Artist, strategic and Creative thinker – invited professor of Creativity and Innovation – and Narrative Therapist. For more than thirty-five years, she has developed what she calls the Art of Re-perception: opening eyes to new kinds of vision.
Moving freely between visual practice, imagination, strategy and narrative work, one question has remained remarkably constant throughout her life:
How can we make visible the mental landscapes that shape our lives?
This search has taken her from drawing, painting and photography to conceptual maps, books, narrative practices and poetic contemporary image-making. In MAD Land / NO MAD Land, these different practices converge: she makes the familiar strange and open up possible Futures.
She describes herself as an Imagician: a creator who uses contemporary media — including artificial intelligence — in the service of a demanding poetics of possibility.
But the Art of Re-perception is more than a professional practice. Very early in life, Aline discovered that what appears “normal” is not necessarily so — and that another world may be possible. That experience left her with a double movement that still runs through her work: a Big NO to what diminishes life, and a Big YES to what could be otherwise.
Dyslexic by nature, she enjoys turning the world upside down — perhaps, as she likes to say, because the world is already upside down and turning it over may help put it back the right way up. She is also a practitioner of alchemy, drawn to its invitation to "open the doors of perceptions": to pierce through appearances and see otherwise.
In 1992, she founded Creative ConsulTeam, a creative and strategic innovation hot shop. Since then, her work with people and organisations has centred on Shifts in Minds for Shifts in Action: making assumptions, narratives and mental maps visible so that radically different possibilities can emerge.
Her work explores imagination, meaning-making and utopia not as abstractions, but as practical forces for changing the Present. She is now developing Doctor Sigmunda, a Narrative Coaching practice rooted in Narrative Therapy, helping people make dominant narratives visible, loosen the stories that constrain what seems possible, and re-author preferred Futures. This narrative lens is one of the deep roots of Shapership and the Shapership Game.
What she is best at: helping people develop the Art of Re-perception and their Creative Agency — the power and freedom to see with fresh eyes, explore the unknown with imagination, navigate uncertainty and open doors to Future possibilities.
Personal conviction: The Future we imagine is the cause of the Present.

Academic & public work
Aline has taught and lectured on creativity, innovation and strategic thinking at institutions including Solvay Business School, ULB and UCLouvain, alongside more than three decades of work with organisations, entrepreneurs, creative communities and public audiences.
Her public practice now moves across talks, writing, books, visual storytelling and exhibitions — different expressions of the same lifelong invitation: to use our power and freedom to see differently and act on the Future. Now.
Jean-Louis Baudoin is a creative thinker who has made it his vocation to open the boxes — those invisible mental frames that limit our perceptions and possibilities.
His life has never followed a straight line. He has moved through law, advertising, entrepreneurship, writing, photography, Jazz music, communication, negotiation, teaching and creative practice — repeatedly reinventing himself rather than remaining confined to a single professional identity.
He brings to Shapership a deeply jazz-like approach to life and collaboration: disciplined improvisation, attentive listening, freedom within a frame — and the ability to create with others something none could have produced alone.
A concept-maker and talented name-finder, Jean-Louis has a particular talent for sensing where thought has become stuck, loosening old certainties and provoking movement — often with a question, an unexpected angle or a well-placed dose of humour.
More than a profile, Jean-Louis is a presence. After a life lived in many forms, he embodies a living transmission, grounded in three movements:
Inspiration. Transgression. Liberation.
Since 1992, he has been working with Aline Frankfort in creative and strategic exploration, helping people and organisations get out of familiar repertoires and see with greater altitude, lightness and freedom.
What he is best at: opening boxes, inventing powerful concepts and names, changing the quality of a conversation, and helping people move from fixed positions towards new possibilities.
Personal dream: to contribute to making Love and Respect values that are genuinely accepted, shared and lived.
Selected paths & credentials
- Three threads have run through Jean-Louis’s life: creativity, communication and jazz — nourished from the start by curiosity for other people, cultures and ways of seeing the world.`
- Very early on, American Field Service and a Rotary scholarship took him to the United States and South Africa, opening him to radically different cultures and ways of life. In 1964, a thesis at the University of Illinois described him as “the Third Man”: someone able to build bridges between cultures. He holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Liège — before going on to live several other lives as an entrepreneur, author, photographer and concept creator. As an award-winning copywriter and concept maker, notably with Saatchi & Saatchi and with recognition at the Cannes advertising festival, he developed a lifelong talent for finding the unexpected angle, the powerful concept and the words that make ideas travel.
- In the early 1990s, he was accredited by Edward de Bono’s in the Six Thinking Hats® and Lateral Thinking®, later pursuing executive learning in strategic thinking at MIT Sloan School of Management.
- For decades, he has worked at the crossroads of persuasive communication, negotiation, storytelling, creative thinking and facilitation — helping individuals and groups move beyond adversarial positions, reframe situations and open new possibilities.
- Jazz has remained a parallel language throughout his life. As a double-bassist, he has played with musicians including Toots Thielemans, Nathalie Loriers, Jean-François Prins, Eric Legnini and Félix Simtaine. Improvisation, listening, rhythm and freedom within a frame have deeply shaped the way he thinks, collaborates and creates.
Academic & public work
Jean-Louis has taught creative thinking, communication and related practices at Solvay Business School and ULB, alongside decades of creative and strategic work with Aline Frankfort.
Today, this experience also feeds his work as a Public Thinker and Mentor: creating one-to-one conversations in which experience, intuition, creativity and humour can help someone loosen a fixed position, reformulate a question and recover movement.
What he does best may still be the simplest thing to say: he helps people get out of their boxes — with altitude, humour and freedom.
