"From Opening New Trails in the Jungle to Carving Holes in the Mental Jungle of Ideas"

The power and freedom to change how and what we think. It changes our action and our impact

This morning, we received some news that moved us deeply.

Years ago, we had the opportunity to work with the Leaders of a company involved in manufacturing plastic components for medical equipment.

Our common goal was to shift from "Business as Usual" to "Business as the World Needs." That's the visible aspect of the outcome we wanted to reach; we also agreed that we could only reach that outcome thanks to deep shifts in perceptions.

That's what we call "Shifts in Minds for Shifts in Action". What else does the world need?

Since that period, among other things, this company has put its industrial expertise at the service of startups engaged in activities that are changing the world.

Today, the Leader of the team sent us news from Africa, where he currently is. He managed to rally a formidable ecosystem of healthcare actors from the bush—who had previously considered themselves as competitors—to provide patients in remote areas with access to 3D-printed prostheses on demand.

The patient scans their damaged limb with their mobile phone, sends the photo electronically to the orthopedic workshop located 600 km away, which then commands the 3D printer. Better care and comfort for patients at affordable costs.

Beyond the technical aspects, the beauty of the project lies in the fact that these remote healthcare actors (the hospital where he happened to be born, doctors, traditional healers, small orthopedic centers, and this startup) have all committed to reinventing their relationships, moving from unnecessary competition to true complementarity in the service of all, with patients as the top priority.

Our client signs off his today's message by saying: "We do not give in to euphoria, but we are confident. SHAPERSHIP, SHAPERSHIP."

Why does he say that? Because that's exactly what he did.

He practiced Shapership, the concept we coined to describe the art of making radically different futures visible and desirable.

He read our book, and we often discussed the many examples we give of how people have indeed opened up paths to the Future that were not visible before them.

How ? They made a breakthrough—not only in the literal jungle, as he did—but also in the mental jungle of ideas.

Shapership rests on three very simple levers.

The result is simple: "Shifts in Minds for Shifts in Action"

Each one develops the power and freedom to change how and what we think. That changes how we act and the impact we have

Shapership, what else?
